Cordes Junction, a rural community about 45 minutes north of Phoenix was established in 1883 by John Henry Cordes. The Agua Fria National Monument lies to the East and South of the community. Sitting around 3,700-ft in elevation, Cordes Junction will have a milder summer than Phoenix but a warmer winter then Prescott.
With still a lot of open space surrounding the area and the closer proximity to Phoenix, Cordes Lakes and the Spring Valley/Mayer areas have seen an influx of building and growth over the last few years.
